The town of Split with its 1700 years long history grew up from the palace of roman cezar Diocletian, which is the part of world inheritance of UNESCO. It spread from the middle aged ambiental settlement of Split fishermen and labourers at the foot of the praised in song hill Marjan (today the park of nature with different recreational contents : trim paths, beaches, cycling sport, tennis, free climbing), where Apartment Marjan Park are located.
Thanks to its natural position it grew up into the biggest passenger port on the Adriatic Sea, and it is connected with car – ferry and quick catamaran lines with middle Dalmatian Islands (Brač, Hvar, Šolta, Vis, Korčula, Lastovo) and with international lines with Italy (Ancona, Pescara) and Greece (Igoumenitsa). Train and bus station by which Split is connected with Europe across Zagreb are near the port, and the international airport is in a distance of 25 km.
Split is tourist and cultural centre of Dalmatia with the Croatian National Theatre and its summer manifestation “Split Summer” (from 15.07 till 15.08.) whose repertoire consists of operas, concerts, classical music, and dramas, of the old masters and also modern ones. In Split there are many museums and galleries, among which you shouldn’t miss the Gallery Meštrović on the south slope of Marjan and Archaeological Museum which is the witness of rich history of those areas from prehistoric times, then Ancient times and Middle Ages until today.
Split is situated in the region of the mediterranean climat, which offers the gifts of mild winters and summer breezes with many sunny days. May to November is over 20 degrees Celsius and it is ideal for swimming.
Today Split is not only turistic place it is the biggest Developer Conference in Southeast Europe. This event, Shift 2018 is the seventh and will bring together more than 1300 attendees. During the two conference days, Shift becomes a meeting place for developers in the most beautiful city in the world.
